A successful hit causes that segment of the centipede to become a mushroom barrier on the field while the rest of the insect marches on, bouncing between mushrooms along the way. Sliding your finger across the screen moves your auto-firing gnome as he shoots at centipedes descending from the top of the screen. Minus a trackball, the game plays very similarly to its retro namesake. Since it plays identically to past games, it really comes down to which version your friends are playing to take advantage of the multiplayer features. This is likely the real reason for the low price, since the game is a tough sell to owners of Asphalt 6 for much of the same experience. While players new to the Asphalt series will get the most out of the new title, long-time fans will notice that many of the tracks and modes are recycled from past games. Tracks will repeat throughout the career mode, but are kept fresh through six race types that will switch up objectives for variety beyond just speeding for first place.
The game looks fantastic on the smartphone screen, with its 60 cars speeding around the tracks easily collecting boosts with the tilt of your phone. The low price should help to entice newcomers, who will be happy to find a quality mobile racer.
